Patterns of Innovation and the Political Economy of Growth. An Exploration of Different Policy Regimes

Abstract: A remarkable amount of progress has been made over the last three decades or so in the understanding of technological change as an evolutionary process. At the same time, comparatively lower efforts have gone into the understanding of the policy counterparts of such evolutionary processes. The paper will address the foregoing normative issues. In that, it displays significant overlappings with the challenging exploration of Neo-Schumpeterian models. At the same time, an explicit nesting of policy questions into evolutionary theories allows an exploration of those dynamic properties which are largely conditional upon heterogeneous agents, bounded rationality and disequilibrium dynamics.
